Blacks in Wax Live Museum: An Experience and an Education

A character actor presents at Blacks in Wax Live Museum 2019

Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum may have Beyoncé, Prince and Michael Jackson, but you won’t find a more distinguished gathering of notable historical figures from across the African diaspora than at the annual Blacks in Wax Live Museum, to be hosted by the African American Cultural Center on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. throughout all three floors of Witherspoon Student Center.

We invite the community to watch history come to life as we reenact moments in Black history for your education and entertainment.

The event, sponsored by the AYA Ambassadors, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and the African American Cultural Center, is free and open to the public. The last tour will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Schedule a Group

Community agencies, schools and large families of at least nine people can attend as a group. To ensure that we have enough space in the hour that you plan to come, we ask that you notify us of your group’s information. Fill out the form to reserve a time. We also offer a special large group tour hour from 9 – 10 a.m.

Volunteer

The Blacks in Wax planning committee  welcomes the NC State community as participants. Students, faculty, staff and family members (including children) can get involved in one of two ways: acting or volunteering.

Witherspoon Student Center will feature over 30 activists, scientists, educators, entertainers, scholars and others. An additional 20+ will serve as greeters, tour guides or other support roles to ensure the day runs smoothly. Sign up for a role below.

Volunteering promotes a sense of community through service while fostering an environment that encourages interactions outside of the classroom or office. This great service opportunity not only impacts our campus, but the minds of all ages and ethnic backgrounds.
