Diversity Education Week serves to promote awareness and understanding of our nation and world’s diverse cultures and foster intercultural understanding through a collection of engaging opportunities including lectures, workshops, panel and group discussions, information sessions, film, food, music, dance and more.
Diversity Education Week is a joint initiative of the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity and the UAB – Diversity Activities Board.
Participants will gain intercultural perspectives through lectures, workshops, panel and group discussions, information sessions, film, food, music, dance and more.
Diversity Education Week advances learning and scholarship, builds understanding and respect among different peoples, and enhances constructive leadership in the global community.
How to Participate
Registered student organizations, University offices, departments, and colleges are invited to host programs and events during the 6th Annual Diversity Education Week taking place Monday, October 12 – Friday, October 16, 2015. To submit a confirmed program/event that you will sponsor during Diversity Education Week and have it added to the formal calendar of events, please complete the DEW Event Submission Form with the following details by Friday, September 25, 2015
- Program/event title
- Sponsor (unit or student organization name)
- 2-3 sentence description of the program/event
- Contact person’s name, email and phone number
- Optional: Website where additional information about the program can be obtained and/or upload your event flyer.
Note: Submissions will be reviewed for their fit with the purpose and intent of Diversity Education Week and may or may not be added to the calendar of events.
