Exhibit: Selma to Montgomery: A March for the Right to Vote, Gallery, African American Cultural Center, 2nd Floor, Witherspoon Student Center
This exhibit features 46 black and white photos documenting the pain, agony, pride, and joy experienced by a cross section of Americans marching for equality and justice. Sponsored by the African American Cultural Center.

Ally Rally with Student Diversity Peer Educators, 12:00 Noon, Brickyard
According to statistics, 9 out of 10 GLBT students have experienced harassment at school. In addition, GLBT teens are bullied 2 to 3 times as much as straight teens, and more than a third have attempted suicide. Attend this rally to learn more about Diversity Education Week in general and how to support diverse communities at the university.

Mis Education of Columbus on Trial, 6:00PM-7:30 PM, Washington Sankofa Room-AACC
A look at American justice and reconsideration of this historic voyage. The program will analyze the impact of Columbus on the "new world" outlook from various cultural contexts. Program participants will review evidence, hear testimonies, and experience legal arguments for the prosecution and defense of Columbus' actions in the "discovery" of America. Sponsored by: The Department of Multicultural Student Affairs & the African American Cultural Center.

MAPS Fall Conference Event: Focus on AIDS Awareness & Health Disparities, 6:00 PM- 7:30 PM, 434 Daniels Hall
October is National AIDS Awareness Month in the United States. It was started by presidential proclamation in 1988 by Ronald Reagan. The 1st Annual MAPS-Minority Health Disparity Conference (MHDC) will explore the continual need for AIDS awareness and education across our nation and around the world. MAPS welcomes the campus and greater community as they explore the challenges and triumphs associated with striving toward the eradication of health disparities amongst all minority groups. Annual Fall Diversity Dialogue featuring America Ferrera – Valuing Diversity: Lessons from Ugly Betty, 5:00PM-6:30PM, Talley Student Center Ballroom
We invite you to attend the Fall Diversity Dialogue. America Ferrera will speak about her experiences in a talk entitled, "Valuing Diversity: Lessons from Ugly Betty." Ms. Ferrera, an American actress and producer, is best known for her leading role as Betty Suarez on the ABC television series Ugly Betty. Ferrera recently traveled to India to take part in the PBS film, Half the Sky, which debuts October 1. Based on the novel, it draws a compelling picture of the trials and triumphs of women worldwide. In America today, we live on neo-diversity frontier. On that frontier the situation is that we all are required to have contact with people who do not look like or even sound like us. In his presentation, Dr. Nacoste will describe how this neo-diversity influences our everyday interactions and what each of us can do to have smooth social interactions on this new frontier. Get the inside scoop on Muslims living in your community by attending this interactive event! Learn about Prophet Jesus, the basics of Islam, marriage rights , the meaning of the "hijab".
