			Welcome to Diversity Education Week! NC State's 6th annual Diversity Education Week will take place this week. A featured part of the annual celebration is the Fall Diversity Dialogue. Two sessions of an interactive and engaging workshop entitled, "The Identity Compass" will be offered to students, faculty and staff during the week. Student leaders from the Union Activities Board and Student Government will co-facilitate the workshop with professional staff from the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity. Read more »

			Women's Center's Slutwalk Event Garners Support and Attendees On October 1, 2015, approximately 250 NC State students united to protest victim blaming and slut shaming at the university's first ever large-scale SlutWalk. SlutWalk: A Walk to End Victim Blaming was organized by The Movement Peer Educators, a student organization composed of trained peer educators who facilitate workshops on issues of gender equity and social justice. North Carolina Diversity and Inclusion Partners (NC-DIP) One-Day Conference Now Registering NC State's Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED) participates as a convener within the North Carolina Diversity and Inclusion Partners (NC-DIP). NC-DIP is a consortium of equal opportunity compliance officers and diversity practitioners from public and private institutions of higher education in the State of North Carolina. The primary purpose of the consortium is to establish a statewide network linking chief diversity officers, equal opportunity compliance officers, human resources practitioners, experts in multicultural affairs and other professionals interested in research, best practices and policy-oriented issues related to transforming institutions of higher education. Each year, NC-DIP hosts a one-day conference on relevant issues related to diversity and equity work in North Carolina. Dr. Derald Wing Sue will be the keynote speaker at this year's host institution, East Carolina University. The theme of the conference is “Building an Inclusive and Diverse Institution: Changing Programs, Policies and Practices.” Please consider registering for this event, which will be held on December 4, 2015. Hunger Awareness Dinner to Simulate Effects of Food inequality Join Diversity Inclusion adVenture Experience (DIVE), the Kappa Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and Amnesty International as they partner for a Hunger Awareness Dinner on October 20, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in Caldwell Lounge. The Dinner will simulate the effects of food inequality and discuss what action to take towards alleviating these issues. Professor Bob Patterson, who instructs "World Population and Food Prospects" will be speaking about the underlying causes of unequal food distribution. The cost of participation is $2.00, which will be donated to Stop Hunger Now's Food Packaging Campaign. Learn more »

Goodnight Scholars Program Presents Derreck Kayongo For “The Goodnight Scholars Program Presents,” Derreck Kayongo will reveal the powerful and often unthinkable, experiences that transformed him from a child refugee in Africa to one of the most respected leaders in the non-governmental organization (NGO) world. In 2009, Kayongo and his wife Sarah started The Global Soap Project: an NGO that repurposes partially-used soap from hotels into new soap for needy populations suffering from poor sanitation access. The Global Soap Project produces 30,000 bars of soap per week and has donated over half a million bars of soap to over 20 countries including Kenya, Haiti, Afghanistan and Iraq. Kayongo’s efforts led to him being recognized as a Top 10 CNN Hero in 2011. The event will take place on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the Talley Student Union Stewart Theatre on NC State’s Main Campus.
