Alumna and Author Tensie Taylor Returns to NC State to Speak on October 25

Tensie Taylor returns home to the WolfPack to tell her story of survival. During October, National Bullying Month, Ms. Taylor encourages everyone to take a stand and empower youth by understanding the impact of bullying on victims and perpetrators. Everyone is welcome to hear her story of triumph. While bullying is relevant to all ages and places, this message is especially important for youth and those advocating for youth. Join us on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Witherspoon 126 for her talk or Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Wolfpack Outfitters to meet the author. Taylor will sign her books at both appearances.

Goodnight Scholars Program Presents TED Senior Fellow, Epibone CEO Dr. Nina Tandon

The Goodnight Scholars Program welcomes TED Senior Fellow and CEO of EpiBone Dr. Nina Tandon for her presentation “Body 3.0” as part of the “Goodnight Scholars Program Presents” speaker series. The event will take place on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Talley Student Union Stewart Theatre. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free. In this thrilling and eye-opening talk, Dr. Tandon will explain the process of growing tissue and transplants and the future of medical science. With the help of manufacturing and information technology, we are on the verge of being able to grow human tissue – and Dr. Tandon is here to walk us through this unbelievably exciting era, which can simply be defined as science fiction meeting reality. GLBT Center to Host Two Workshops on Microaggressions on October 31

As part of the lineup of workshops for the 2016-2017 GLBT Advocate Program, the GLBT Center will host two “Recognizing and Responding to Microaggressions” workshops on Monday, October 31, 2016. The first workshop will be from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in Talley Student Union, Room 3222 and the second workshop will be from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. in Talley Student Union, Room 3285. This three-hour workshop is open to NC State undergraduates, graduate students, staff, faculty and alumni as well as interested members of the local community. The workshop helps participants learn how to identify microaggressions, understand their impact and respond appropriately when they occur. Also, check out the recent article on NC State News.

The initiative is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. International Affairs celebrates all month long by hosting a variety of events across campus for students, employees and the community.

Showcase of NC State Women Faculty’s Research, Creativity and Scholarship

The Association of Women Faculty invites you to participate in a showcase of NC State Women Faculty’s Research, Creativity and Scholarship. The event will be held on November 1, 2016 in the Brooks Hall Galleries and consist of a poster session and networking reception. Paper posters, electronic posters, videos and other types of displays are invited. All faculty are welcome to attend and/or exhibit posters prepared for recent conferences. This is an opportunity to network with other women faculty, learn what their research is about and make connections for future collaborations. Come (and register) even if you don't wish to present a poster. Those who cannot attend but wish to be added to the database should also register.
