Equal Opportunity Institute Welcomes Its Graduates Back

Certificate Program Offers
New Workshops for
Returning Participants

Are you one of well over 400 graduates of OIED's Equal Opportunity Institute (EOI)? If so, you might not be aware of a new opportunity for EOI graduates, which is to return to the program to take three or more new workshops under the "EOI Graduate Scholar" designation and be recognized once again at EOI Graduation.

The EOI, a year-long certificate program comprised of 10 or more two-hour diversity and equity workshops, has traditionally been extremely well-reviewed by its participants. In fact, word-of-mouth has filled this program to capacity in recent years. EOI continues to welcome new participants each September but now also welcomes back graduates to continue their diversity and equity training. If you wish to return to EOI, you can re-apply in any subsequent year after graduating. You can even return more than once!

New workshop offerings this year include The Crosswalk of Identity: Exploring Intersectionality in a Socio-Legal Context and Class Inequality and the Quest for Equal Opportunity, both taught by Equal Opportunity Officer and NC State Deputy Title IX Coordinator Jordyne Blaise. Volunteer at NC State's Annual Native American Pow-Wow

NC State's 25th Annual Pow-Wow will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015. Grand entry will start at noon and the event ends at 7:00 p.m. The Native American Pow-wow Planning Committee is seeking interested and motivated volunteers to assist in this awesome display of culture. Please submit the online volunteer form by March 17, 2015. Note that attendance at a volunteer information session during the week prior to the event is highly encouraged and will include free food. Chancellor's Creating Community Awards Nomination Period Open

OIED and the University Diversity Advisory Committee seek nominations for the 9th Annual Chancellor's Creating Community Awards, which will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Talley Student Center Ballroom. The Awards recognize faculty, staff, colleges, students and student organizations that have made exceptional contributions in the areas of equity, diversity and inclusion. Submit nominations via the online nomination form by Monday, April 6, 2015. Register to be Honored at Lavender Graduation

Registration is now open for the 2015 Lavender Graduation, an annual ceremony to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of NC State's GLBT graduates. This year's ceremony will take place in Talley Coastal Ballroom on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. If you're graduating this spring, summer, or fall, you are eligible to participate. Students do not need to have been involved with any GLBT student organizations or with the GLBT Center in order to participate. Any graduating GLBT undergraduate or graduate student is eligible to participate. Please register online.
