Lavender Graduation Sends Off Class of 2016's GLBT and Ally Grads
Lavender Graduation took place on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in Talley Student Union. Speakers Amy Circosta, interim vice provost for institutional equity and diversity, Ian Pike, a current student, and NC State staff member Brian Mathis, associate director in the Center for Leadership, Ethics and Public Service, celebrated, honored and inspired.

Natalie Nguyen Appointed to National Advisory Council
Natalie Nguyen, assistant director in the GLBT Center, has been offered a position on the National Advisory Council (NAC) for the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education (NCORE). NCORE is housed in the Southwest Center for Human Relations Studies under Outreach at the University of Oklahoma. Natalie's committee assignment is Student Affairs and Affiliated Professionals. The appointment is for three years and will begin at NCORE 2016 and end after NCORE 2019. Council members are expected to attend the annual conference and NAC meetings at the conference as well as volunteer their time to improve the conference. Congratulations, Natalie!

GLBT Center Seeks Transgender, Genderqueer, and Gender-Nonconforming Students for Research Study
NC State students are invited to take part in a research study about the impact of housing policies and practices on their experience at NC State. If you identify as transgender, genderqueer or gender-nonconforming, are over the age of 18 and are currently living or have lived in University Housing in the last three years, we would appreciate the opportunity to interview you. This audio-recorded, semi-structured interview will be used to gather information on your perspective as a transgender-identified student with recent experience living in University Housing. The findings of this study will assist in producing recommendations to create a more positive, empowering campus community. Please note that your participation will be voluntary, anonymous and will take a maximum of 1-1.25 hours to complete.

Justice Theater Project to Stage "Still... Life, an Exploration of a Killing State, North Carolina"
The Justice Theater Project will Stage "Still... Life, an Exploration of a Killing State, North Carolina" on April 28 & 29, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. and May 1, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. Two of the "Still… Life" performances will feature discussion panels: on Friday, April 29: “The State of the Death Penalty in North Carolina” – Experts in the field discuss the current state of the death penalty. On Sunday, May 1: “The Death Penalty: Faith Perspectives” – Representatives from different faiths will come together and discuss their faith perspective regarding the death penalty.
