			Shaw President, Chancellor Illuminate Equal Opportunity Institute Graduation The Equal Opportunity Institute, an NC State institution that has provided award-winning diversity and equity education to the community for 17 years, hosted Shaw University President Dr. Tashni-Ann Dubroy as the keynote speaker of its annual graduation celebration on April 27, 2016. Chancellor Randy Woodson provided an introduction for Dr. Dubroy, who earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry at NC State just eight years ago. Read more and see gallery »

			Take Back the Night Rally 200 Strong Women and allies came out in full force at this year's Take Back the Night event on April 21, 2016. About 200 students gathered in Stafford Commons to show their support for survivors of sexual violence and to let their voices be heard. Take Back the Night is one of the final events of NC State's observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. 			Chancellor Reaffirms Commitment to Free Speech in April 28 Letter Chancellor Woodson reaffirmed NC State's commitment to fostering free speech in response to a lawsuit initiated by a faith-based organization. Campus and community groups are routinely issued permits to speak or distribute information on campus, including over 2,000 permits granted over the past three years, close to 500 of those to faith-based groups. GLBT Center Seeks Transgender, Genderqueer, and Gender-Nonconforming Students for Research Study NC State students are invited to take part in a research study about the impact of housing policies and practices on their experience at NC State. If you identify as transgender, genderqueer or gender-nonconforming, are over the age of 18 and are currently living or have lived in University Housing in the last three years, we would appreciate the opportunity to interview you. This audio-recorded, semi-structured interview will be used to gather information on your perspective as a transgender-identified student with recent experience living in University Housing. The findings of this study will assist in producing recommendations to create a more positive, empowering campus community. Please note that your participation will be voluntary, anonymous and will take a maximum of 1-1.25 hours to complete. To participate in the study, please contact Andy DeRoin, 919-513-3563.
