Stop By Talley to See the 'At Home in the World' Display in the Cultural Hearth

Apply for 2016-17 Doctoral Mentoring Fellowship Program

The Doctoral Mentoring Fellows program creates catalysts for increasing the diversity of doctoral students choosing and successfully undertaking academic careers. The fellows meet monthly during the academic year to discuss literature and experiences within their own departments. The 2015-16 Fellows had this to say about the monthly meetings:

The discussions of issues that make graduate education difficult for women and underrepresented minorities helped me to be a better advocate for graduate students. The discussions from various people with a diverse set of backgrounds certainly helped me to have a clearer perspective, and I thought that this was the most valuable part of the program.

I always get quite a bit from research, but the interactions brought home many dimensions I was just plain ignorant of!

Each fellow is expected to complete a small project to bring information and discussion back to their department. We expect that fellows will begin to provide leadership in broadening diversity in their departments or colleges.
