Poole College of Management Announces New Director of Diversity and Inclusion

The NC State Poole College of Management has announced the recent appointment of Tayah Lin Butler, MBA, as the college’s director of diversity and inclusion. The new position reflects the college’s ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion through both leadership and program development.

Tamah Morant, associate dean for undergraduate programs, said the college’s leadership team upgraded a previous coordinator of diversity position to the current director of diversity and inclusion. The change reflects the college’s strong commitment to supporting an atmosphere that embraces all perspectives and encourages input from all backgrounds and experiences.  

Butler received her bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish and master’s in Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University. 

Counseling Center Launches Women of Color Support Group for Students

The Counseling Center welcomes both undergraduate and graduate students to a new Women of Color support group beginning this semester. The goal is to provide a supportive space for Women of Color at a PWI to explore what it means for them, with regard to identity, relationships, etc.; to empower and enhance their voice; and to fully embrace their NC State experience. College of Engineering to Host Corporate Diversity Mixer on September 20

A mixer targeted toward increasing diversity in the workplace and giving opportunities to women and minority Engineering students will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in the Piedmont Ballroom, Talley Student Union, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The mixer will host over 30 companies and provide light refreshments for students. Dress for business and bring your resume.

NC State Study Abroad Fair to Welcome Students, Faculty and Staff on September 23

Students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend the Study Abroad Fair to learn about the many study abroad options available at NC State, talk to past participants and faculty and start to identify funding resources. The fair will be held in the State Ballroom, Talley Student Union on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Student Government to Host Racial Climate Town Hall on September 29

Student Government will host a Racial Climate Town Hall on Thursday September 29, 2016 from 4:00-5:30 p.m. in Talley Student Union, Room 4140. Diversity Mini-Grant Program in Final Weeks of Proposal Acceptance Period

All full-time, part-time and temporary university employees, faculty and staff are eligible to apply for a Diversity Mini-Grant. Proposals must meet the mini-grant program guidelines and will be selected by a committee appointed by the vice provost. All eligible proposals must be submitted online by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016.  The maximum proposal request is $3,000.00. Announcement of grant recipients will be made by November 2016.

The University Diversity Mini-Grant serves as a seed grant to enhance or build an initiative. Previously funded proposals may reapply. However, proposals will only be funded for a maximum of two (2) years.
