NC State Hosts Regional NCBI Train-the-Trainer Event

NC State Belltower

NC State hosted the 15th annual National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) – Carolina Coalition Train-the-Trainer Event this month. Thirty faculty, staff and students from The Citadel, Wofford University, University of Alaska at Anchorage and NC State University participated in this training. Participants were trained to facilitate the international model of diversity training developed by the National Coalition Building Institute, based in Washington, D.C. This model for diversity leadership and conflict resolution training is utilized on many campuses across the U.S. Those in the training gained insights about how to create dialogue around issues of diversity identity, stereotypes, discrimination, the impact of discrimination and also how to help others build skills in addressing discriminatory comments.

Feedback from participants included:

  • “My experience was amazing. I walked away with skills that I would never be able to gain in any other type of training. I am thankful for the opportunity to have attended Train-the-Trainer and appreciate the individuals that lead the training as well.”
  • “Terrific experience. Thank you!! I also want to comment on the NC State team welcomed us warmly to your campus and made sure that the entire experience went well for all.”

As a result of this training, we welcome nine new members to NC State’s NCBI campus affiliate. Welcome to:

  • Jackie Bruce
