Author Jaclyn Friedman: “Sane, Safe and Strong: Creating a Safe and Healthy Sexual Culture for Your Community”
Author Jaclyn Friedman will speak at NC State on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in SAS Hall 2203 as part of the Women’s Center’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month programs.
Friedman is a writer, performer, activist, editor of the book Yes Means Yes: Visions of Female Sexual Power and a World without Rape (one of Publishers’ Weekly‘s “Top 100 Books of 2009” and one of Ms. Magazine‘s “Top 100 Feminist Non-Fiction of All Time” lists) and author of What You Really Want: The Smart Girl’s Shame-Free Guide to Sex and Safety.
Friedman will lead an interactive discussion about the ways you and your community can create a culture that supports healthy sexuality and makes sexual violence rare, clear and swiftly punished. Alex Wan: “Out to Lead”
We are excited to announce that Alex Wan has been rescheduled (from the February weather-related postponement) to appear as part of NC State’s first annual Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) History Week events.
The GLBT CommUNITY Alliance (GLBTCA) and Bliss (Asian Interest Sorority) invite you to attend Out to Lead: Lessons from an Openly Gay Asian American Engineer, Businessman and Politician on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in Witherspoon 201. Both GLBTCA and Bliss were awarded an At Home in the World Student Group Activity Grant to bring both communities together and to host Atlanta City Councilmember Alex Wan. Wan currently serves as the Director of Development for Emory University Libraries and was recently featured in the 2013 documentary Breaking Through, featuring openly gay politicians from around the nation. Light refreshments and a reception will conclude the event.
