Gender Equity at NC State
Activities relating to gender equity have been assigned to the Vice Provost for Equal Opportunity and Equity. The following efforts are being addressed under this leadership venue:
- creating and implementing a paid leave policy for faculty with academic year appointments. See the revised Medical, Maternity and Parental Leave for Faculty with Academic Year Appointments Policy 05.30.1 (formerly Maternity Leave). See also: Policy 05.30.1 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs);
- working with NCSU administration, University Planning and Analysis (UPA), and college deans to conduct and implement the Faculty Salary Equity Study. See the Report on the NC State University Faculty Salary Equity Study, 2001; 2004 NC State Faculty Salary Equity Study; and 2007 Faculty Salary Equity Study;
- acting as liaison with existing programs and efforts, including the NC State Women's Center and the Council on the Status of Women;
- continuing involvement with the University affirmative action program and sexual harassment education and prevention program;
- developing programs and policies in response to campus climate issues;
- reviewing strategies for recruitment, retention and advancement of women faculty and administrators;
- supporting existing efforts to advance women in academic administration, such as WANCHE and the BRIDGES program. Also, see information on the Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) Institutes and Leadership America North Carolina.
