The College of Education and the Multicultural Young Educators Network (MYEN) invite you to join us for a program on “Collaboration: Teachers Working with Hispanic/Latino Students and Their Families”, led by guest presenter Rossy Garcia, a school counselor working in Wake County Schools. Ms. Garcia will discuss how teachers in K-12 schools can effectively collaborate with other school personnel in order provide support for students from Hispanic/Latino backgrounds and their families.

Over the last few years, the nomenclature “Latinx” has risen in popularity as a means to be inclusive of the spectrum of gender identities. Its rise in popularity poses the larger question of how do we create more inclusive spaces in traditionally gendered languages. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the GLBT Center as we unpack the ways in which scholars and activists are working towards gender inclusivity within gendered languages, such as Spanish.
