About the Dinner

This year’s Sisterhood Dinner theme is LEAP, in recognition of the leap year date, but with LEAP standing for Lead, Empower, Act, Prevail – appropriate action verbs for this annual celebration of women. The program will feature a panel of women leaders, each of whom embodies the entire LEAP theme, and one of the words in particular.

CSW and Sisterhood Dinner Planning Team member Caren Ostrow introduces us to each panelist. Click on their names to learn about them. They are Susan Nutter (Lead), Vice Provost and Director, University Libraries; Gayle Lanier (Empower), SVP and Chief Customer Service Officer, Duke Energy, NC State Engineering Alumna and former NC State Trustee; Maggie Kane (Act), Executive Director, A Place at the Table, and recent NC State alumna; and Mindy Sopher (Prevail), Academic Advisor, Exploratory Studies, and Lecturer in Communication. Mindy will also serve as the panel facilitator.

The Sisterhood Dinner will kick off again this year with a reception and silent auction to benefit the NC State Women’s Center. Donations are welcome for both events — if you would like to donate wine or beer to the reception, contact Julieta Sherk ( To donate items for the silent auction, contact Kimberly Zugay (
