By utilizing the strengths of our diverse student body, Diversity Education Week (DEW) serves to further equip NC State students, faculty and staff with 21st century skills. DEW advances learning and scholarship, builds understanding and respect among different peoples, and enhances constructive leadership and dialogue in our local and global community. Through education and engagement it promotes awareness and understanding of our nation and world’s diverse cultures and fosters intercultural understanding.
Participants gain information and experience during the week through a collection of engaging opportunities including lectures, workshops, panel and group discussions,film, food, music, dance and more.
The coordination of Diversity Education Week is a joint initiative of:
- Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity
- Student Government, Diversity Outreach
- UAB, Diversity Activities Board
Diversity Education Week serves to promote awareness and understanding of our nation and world’s diverse cultures and foster intercultural understanding through a collection of engaging opportunities.
How to Participate
Registered student organizations, University offices, departments, and colleges are invited to host programs and events during the 7th Annual Diversity Education Week taking place Monday, October 17- Saturday, October 22, 2016. To submit a confirmed program/event that you will sponsor during Diversity Education Week and have it added to the formal calendar of events, please complete the DEW Event Submission Form with the following details by Friday, September 16, 2016
- Program/event title
- Learning Outcomes associated with program/ event
- Sponsor (unit or student organization name)
- 2-3 sentence description of the program/event
- Contact person’s name, email and phone number
- Optional: Website where additional information about the program can be obtained and/or upload your event flyer.
Note: Submissions will be reviewed for their fit with the purpose and intent of Diversity Education Week and may or may not be added to the calendar of events.
