New Director Leads Multicultural Student Affairs

Nashia Whittenburg has joined NC State as director of Multicultural Student Affairs. Whittenburg has over 12 years of student engagement experience in higher education. She comes to NC State from Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia, where she served as director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Prior to that, she served as associate director for the Office of Multicultural Affairs at St. John’s University in Jamaica, New York.

Throughout her career, Whittenburg has worked to implement programs and create opportunities to help marginalized students graduate at higher rates and be better prepared for careers. She is particularly interested in enhancing NC State’s existing living and learning communities for underrepresented students, establishing additional living and learning communities, adding academic components to more of MSA’s social programs and bringing in additional programs and support for Asian and Asian Pacific Islander students.
