NC State Diversity Mini-Grants Awarded

The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity has announced the 2018-2019 recipients of the NC State Diversity Mini-Grants.

Diversity mini-grants support the efforts of NC State faculty and staff members to transform lives, provide leadership and create and apply integrated approaches to problem solving related to issues of social justice and equity. The program provides a total of $15,000 in funding to support research and projects that build a diverse and inclusive learning environment for all.

The University Diversity Advisory Committee (UDAC) and OIED staff members reviewed and selected proposals using criteria developed to ensure goal alignment and impact and awarded up to $3,000, funded by the state. This year, 29 proposals were reviewed by a nine member committee using a newly-created rubric that allowed for more objective discussion of finalists and allocation of funding. Projects this year include initiatives focusing on training and recruitment of educators, supporting underrepresented families of children with autism, bringing awareness to the experiences of international students, and minority students in STEM.
