Nominate a “Legend” or “Luminary” for Black History Month
In partnership with NC State Athletics, the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity invites you to nominate a notable NC State community member for recognition at the Black History Month Celebrations at Mens’ and Womens’ Basketball games in February.
We seek to recognize everyday heroes that make a difference in the lives of NC State faculty, staff and students through their personal qualities and efforts.
If you are reading this and someone comes to mind, please complete our short nomination form (below) by Friday, Jan. 17. We need your input.
Who Should You Nominate?
Nominate a faculty member, staff member, student, volunteer or local community member whose contributions have enriched an NC State program, initiative or effort on campus or beyond. In particular, we seek to honor individuals who have supported and/or enhanced NC State’s Black community. We want to uplift those who uplift us.
A “Legend” could be someone who has provided dedicated service for a sustained period of time. A “Luminary” could be someone who has gone above and beyond for a shorter time but in a significant way. We welcome either type of nomination.
When Will Honorees Be Celebrated?
Come out to Wolfpack Women’s Basketball on Feb. 13 against Louisville at 8 p.m. and Wolfpack Men’s Basketball on Feb. 22 against Florida State at 4 p.m. to join us in celebrating Black History Month.
NC State students receive free admission to Women’s Basketball. Students can simply show their ID at Reynolds Coliseum on game day for the women’s game. For Men’s Basketball, students can request tickets at GoPack.com/Students.
NC State employees receive free admission to Women’s Basketball games by showing a valid ID at the ticket window on game day. Additional tickets for the women’s game for family, friends or community members and tickets for the men’s game can be purchased at GoPack.com/BuyTickets. In addition to honoring our Legends and Luminaries, we look forward to sharing with you the following special additions to the games:
- honoring current student organizations, who will get to partake in a pregame fan tunnel for the teams;
- special Black History Month commemorative team apparel for both men and women;
- Black History Month highlights throughout the games.
