NC State Receives Military-Friendly Designation

NC State has received its first military-friendly designation from Military Friendly, an independent survey-driven publisher and division of Victory Media. NC State's rating included data from six categories that describe the extent to which military-affiliated students perceive NC State's commitment and support to exceed benchmark standards for being a military-friendly school.

Call for Readers: Human Rights Day Video

This year we will be creating a video of campus community members reading the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Human Rights Day is December 10 each year, commemorating the date on which the UDHR was signed. We are seeking readers from all parts of the NC State community. Each reader will read 1-2 articles from the UDHR. Recording will take place in the Cultural Hearth in Talley Student Union.

Native American Culture Night to Showcase Native Traditions on November 14

Multicultural Student Affairs will present "Culture Night" on November 14, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Coastal Ballroom, Talley Student Union. The theme of this event is "Seven Generations," which refers to the traditional principle of revering, respecting and protecting the three generations before you and teaching and raising the three generations after you. This event is centered around hearing cultural perspectives from each of the seven generations through storytelling, dance, drumming and other Indigenous practices. We hope to see you there!

Applications Now Being Accepted for 2016-17 OIED Faculty Diversity Liaisons

We invite interested faculty to apply for the 2016-17 OIED Faculty Diversity Liaison Program. Faculty liaisons serve as an important resource in OIED’s efforts to foster an inclusive and welcoming campus climate, enhance the university’s ability to recruit and retain diverse faculty, staff and students and support ongoing university efforts to increase the cultural competence of NC State students. To apply to serve as a 2016-17 faculty diversity liaison, please send a one-page proposal describing one or more initiatives and the mix of activities that you would like to pursue as an OIED faculty diversity liaison to Marcia Gumpertz. Faculty who participate in the program must have the support of their academic department head to participate.
