Join us for a week-long celebration of the groundbreaking Title IX, the law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender in all university student services and academic programs.

Monday, November 12:
What does Title IX mean to you?
11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Brickyard

Join us in the Brickyard to have your photo taken and share your thoughts on what Title IX has meant for you. Photos wil be used in an upcoming display.

Tuesday, November 13:
Title IX Documentary Screening and Discussion, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Auditorium, D.H. Hill Library
Heidi Grappedorf, scholar-in-residence of the Women's Center, will show clips from documentaries and lead a discussion on both the positive ramifications and unintended consequences of the amendment.

Wednesday, November 14:
Title IX Anniversary Panel Discussion, 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Assembly Room, D.H. Hill Library
NC State panelists Joanne Woodard, vice provost for Institutional Equity & Diversity, Michelle Lee, associate athletic director, and Heidi Grappendorf, scholar-in-residence of the Women's Center, will discuss Title IX's far-reaching impacts, particularly on women's athletics.

Thursday, November 15:
Women's Basketball Game, 7:00 pm, Reynolds Coliseum, NC State.
Join us as the Wolfpack Women's Basketball team takes on the Longwood Lancers. During the game we will celebrate the achievements of women athletes in NC State's history.

Program attendees will be eligible to win food and drink vouchers for the 11/15 women's basketball game. All programs, except the basketball game, are free an open to the public. NC State Veterans Day Events

Veterans Display - Books & Memorabilia, November 2012
D.H. Hill Libary


The Student Veterans Association at NC State will have a display case at the D. H. Hill Library in remembrance of Veterans Day from Oct 31 to November 30, 2012.  The display case will include books written by veterans and recommended by our NC State veteran community with a brief synopsis.  Mementos will be included of our experiences in the military and pictures of life for today's veterans. 

Appreciation Luncheon, November 9, 2012
12:00PM - 1:30PM, Witherspoon Student Center

You are invited to join our ROTC students and campus community members on Friday, November 9 at 5:45 AM to celebrate Veterans Day with a 2-mile run around campus followed by a short ceremony and breakfast. This is a wonderful opportunity to show support and appreciation for our ROTC students and our veterans, while also getting in some exercise. Note: the pace will be comfortable for us civilians, so don't worry that the run will be too intense. If you or your staff do not want to run, but want to show support, please come to Cates Avenue at 6:15 AM to cheer on the runners or join us at the Bell Tower for the ceremony and breakfast at 6:30 AM.

North Carolina Diversity and Inclusion Partners (NC DIP)
Fall Conference at NC State

The North Carolina Diversity and Partners (NC DIP) invite you to register for the Fall Conference, "Diversity in Higher Educations: Strategy, Structure, and Change" on November 29, 2012. This conference will be hosted by NC State's own Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity at McKimmon Center.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Damon A. Williams, Associate Vice Chancellor and Vice Provost for Diversity and Climate, University of Wisconsin-Madison. The morning will also include concurrent sessions on Title IX, campus diversity planning, and Fisher v. University of Texas.

In the afternoon, there will be a panel discussion, "The Role of Senior Leaders in Promoting Diversity and Inclusive Practices in Fiscally Challenged Academic Environments" as well as additional concurrent sessions on GLBT issues, diversity education and cultural competency, and veterans' issues.
