NEW DATE: Rained Out International Festival Rescheduled for April 21

The International Festival, sponsored by Student Involvement, Student Government, Multicultural Student Affairs and the Office of International Services, has been rescheduled for Friday, April 21, 2017 from 12:00-4:00 p.m. The event will promote cultural competency for students, faculty and staff and bring new perspectives and traditions from around the world. Motivational Speaker Keith Pogues to Speak at Dinner Reception in Poole on April 11

Poole Office of Undergraduate Programs in collaboration with the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA), the Black Business Student Association (BBSA) and the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), will host motivational speaker Keith Pigues for a dinner reception and keynote address on April 11, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Nelson Hall Boardroom. Pogues' inspirational yet challenging delivery invites audiences to reimagine what is possible both professionally and personally. He will speak on the differences between leading and managing, relationship building and career success.

Emerging Scholars Academy Six-Day Residential Summer Program Invites Applications

Do you know a rising 11th grade student who is interested in African American topics? NC State seeks applications for the Emerging Scholars Academy on June 25 - July 1, 2017. The event is a six-day residential academic enrichment program designed for high school students who have a strong interest and appreciation for the African American experience and culture. The program costs only $10 for those selected to participate. Apply by April 15, 2017.

Office of International Affairs to Hold Global Expo on April 18

The Global Engagement Exposition will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the Mountains Ballroom, Talley Student Union to celebrate achievements in international education at NC State. The event features an awards ceremony, poster session, networking and lunch. Nominees and 2017 recipients of the Outstanding Global Engagement Award and Jackson Rigney International Service Award will be recognized at this event.

Office of International Services Recruiting Students to Help International Students

the Office of International Services (OIS) offers two programs to help new incoming international students acclimate to life on campus and to the Raleigh area. The office is now recruiting current NC State students (local and international) to participate in these programs, in which they will gain valuable leadership skills and cross-cultural experience. Small Pack Leaders will assist the OIS with International Graduate Student Orientation, while Culture to Culture Ambassadors will assist new international undergraduate students throughout their orientation and the fall 2017 semester. Each program includes training and support from the OIS staff and our partners and provides student leadership opportunities that strengthen the campus community and global learning.

Next GLBT Faculty and Staff Network Social to be Held on April 20

Part of the mission of the GLBT Center is to provide ongoing support for GLBT faculty and staff on campus. To fulfill that mission, the GLBT Center coordinates the GLBT Faculty and Staff Network in order to provide an opportunity for GLBT faculty and staff to connect and form community, to supply informal and formal feedback about campus climate, to support and mentor GLBT students and to connect with prospective GLBT faculty and staff members. The Network holds monthly business meetings and hosts monthly socials. The next GLBT Faculty and Staff Network Social will be on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Players Retreat. Current and prospective Network members are welcome to attend. Partners and spouses are also welcome. RSVP to Renee Wells.

GLBT Center's Lavender Graduation to be Held on April 26

The GLBT Center will host its annual Lavender Graduation ceremony on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Piedmont-Mountains Ballroom, Talley Student Union. Lavender Graduation provides an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of 2017 GLBT graduates. All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend. No RSVP is required.

Graduate Student Funding Opportunity with Emphasis on Diversity

The North Carolina Water Resources Research Institute and North Carolina Sea Grant announce a joint funding opportunity for graduate students in North Carolina. They intend to fund up to five projects at $10,000 each. Submissions by and/or collaborative partnerships with underrepresented students and faculty, HBCU's, and minority-serving institutions are strongly encouraged. Proposals are due on May 1, 2017.

Multicultural Graduation Celebration to Recognize Graduates on May 11

Multicultural Student Affairs will host the Multicultural Graduation Celebration to congratulate graduates in NC State's multicultural community. The event will be held in Witherspoon Cinema on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. In December and May of each year, MSA hosts this celebration to allow friends and family to come together to recognize graduates' accomplishments.
