New Diversity and Equity Leaders Will Help Shape NC State's Future
The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED) will welcome several new faces in prominent positions this summer. Linda McCabe Smith will take the helm as OIED’s vice provost as of August 1, 2016. McCabe Smith held the position of associate chancellor for institutional diversity at Southern Illinois University Carbondale from 2009 to 2016.

Additional Interfaith Prayer and Meditation Space to Open in August
A long-awaited interfaith prayer and meditation space will open in Witherspoon Student Center, Room 204 in fall 2016. This newly designated space, the result of the efforts of many, will help make NC State a more welcoming place for members of all faiths on campus.

Special Counseling Hours in Wake of Orlando Tragedy
In the wake of the tragedy at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, the Counseling Center will be hosting drop-in counseling hours from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the GLBT Center today. As many of you know from social media posts, the LGBT Center of Raleigh held a vigil last night, and other observances are scheduled throughout the week.
As always, you can talk to GLBT Center staff any time from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. If the center is closed and you need support, please remember the Counseling Center has an on-call counselor who can be reached at 919-515-3000.

Two Days Left to Win $1,000 with a Study Abroad Story
The Institute of International Education (IIE) recently announced, in partnership with The New York Times in Education, the 2016 Generation Study Abroad Voices Video Challenge.
By hearing and seeing study abroad alumni articulate the value of their study abroad experience, they hope to inspire Generation Z and others to seek out an international experience as part of their college education. Contest deadline is June 15, 2016.
