GLBT Center Launches New Advocate Program
The GLBT Center recognizes the strong support that exists at NC State for members of the GLBT community and for the work the Center does. This support is evident by the number of students, faculty and staff who have participated in the Project SAFE Ally Program as well as the ongoing Trans* 101 workshops. This year, the Center has announced a new program and five new workshops.

Gallery Opening Event: "The Creative World of Synthia SAINT JAMES"
The African American Cultural Center Art Gallery's newest exhibition, "The Creative World of Synthia SAINT JAMES," will commence with a Gallery Opening event tomorrow evening, Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The Gallery is located on the second floor of Witherspoon Student Center. Synthia SAINT JAMES will also be featured as the fall artist and scholar-in-residence.

Meet Julie Paradiso, New Staff Member in the GLBT Center
Originally from Argentina, Julie Paradiso joins NC State after living in Miami Beach for fifteen years. Although she comes from a multicultural family herself, it is in Miami where she realized the importance of diversity and what can be achieved when people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences start engaging with one other.

Hispanic Heritage Month Begins on September 15, 2015
NC State's Hispanic/Latino community, together with student organizations and Multicultural Student Affairs, will host events through the period of September 15 - October 15, 2015 to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Make an Impact on Community Youth with Read to L.E.A.D.
Want to get involved in the larger community, learn about diversity and equity and realize the impact one can make through the development of relationships with youth? Join Read to L.E.A.D. (Learn. Engage. Ask. Do.)! Using literacy as a tool, this program provides high-impact learning and leadership opportunities for NC State students, faculty and staff to become equity-minded practitioners and to foster social change on campus and in the community. Transportation is provided for mentors who do not have cars. You can still register for the last afternoon training session on Friday, September 18, 2015.
