"Breaking Taboos: How Art is Changing the Middle East" to Feature Lebanese Illustrator

Illustrator Lena Merhej will give a talk and show an exhibit in the State Ballroom, Talley Student Union on Thursday, September 29, 2016 entitled, "Breaking Taboos: How Art is Changing the Middle East." All are welcome.

Merhej will also teach two illustration workshops on September 27 and 28, 2016 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Talley on the 3rd floor, outside of the Arts Suite. Email Amy Sawyers to reserve a space!

Multicultural Student Affairs Calls for Programs for Native American Heritage Month

November is Native American Heritage Month at NC State. Colleges, departments, offices and student organizations are invited to submit Native American Heritage Month programs to be included in the commemorative calendar by Monday, October 3, 2016. Please consider hosting an event that highlights Native American Heritage Month in a manner that is educational, motivational and/or celebratory.

In addition, this year Multicultural Student Affairs would like to establish a committee tasked with assisting in creating the calendar and theme for the month.  If you would like to serve on this committee, please contact Brittany Hunt as soon as possible, as the committee will convene during the week of September 26, 2016.

NC State's International Affairs to Send Parade of Flags to Raleigh's International Festival

Raleigh will hold its 31st International Festival on October 14-16, 2016 at the Raleigh Convention Center. NC State's Office of International Affairs will kick off the festival on opening night by showcasing a Parade of Flags. NC State students, employees and community members are welcome to sign up to carry a flag of their choice. The event will showcase our international community and celebrate the cultural diversity of North Carolina.

Only Two Weeks Left to Submit Your Diversity Mini-Grant Program Proposal!

All full-time, part-time and temporary university employees, faculty and staff are eligible to apply for a Diversity Mini-Grant. Proposals must meet the mini-grant program guidelines and will be selected by a committee appointed by the vice provost. All eligible proposals must be submitted online by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016.  The maximum proposal request is $3,000.00. Announcement of grant recipients will be made by November 2016.

The University Diversity Mini-Grant serves as a seed grant to enhance or build an initiative. Previously funded proposals may reapply. However, proposals will only be funded for a maximum of two (2) years.
