Reading Circles Forming for How Women Decide: What's True, What's Not, and What Strategies Spark the Best Choices

The Association for Women Faculty, the College of Engineering, Office of Faculty Advancement and OIED are pleased to offer two reading circles for the book How Women Decide: What’s True, What’s Not, and What Strategies Spark the Best Choices. The book examines what psychologists, economists and sociologists have learned about how women’s choices are perceived at work. The book tackles common stereotypes about women as decision-makers and offers advice for navigating those beliefs.

There will be two reading circles, one on main campus and one on Centennial. Each circle will meet every other week for 6 sessions. The dates and times are:

Centennial Campus Circle (room TBA): Thursdays, 4:00-5:00, Sept 8, Sept 22, Oct 13, Oct 20, Nov 3, Nov 17. Main Campus Circle (2312G DH Hill): Mondays, 10:00-11:00, Sept 12, Sept 26, Oct 10, Oct 24, Nov 7, Nov 21.

If you are interested in participating in a reading circle, we ask that you commit to attending at least 4 of the 6 sessions. Please RSVP to Dr. Marcia Gumpertz.

NC State Staff Women's Network Starts Fall Activities with Belltower Tour

The new school year is always a time of excitement, and we are excited for what we have planned for the female staff of NC State: a fun year of socializing, enrichment, growth, and service. Join us for our first outing, a historical Belltower Tour.

Originally built to pay tribute to NC State alumni who fell in WWI, the Belltower has become a symbol of inspiration to the Wolfpack community. Join Dr. Tom Stafford, former vice chancellor for student affairs, to step back in time and discover the history and significance of this famous campus landmark. Pre-tour photos with Ms. Wuf; post-tour social at Mitch’s Tavern. The tour will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the Belltower.
