WELCOME TO THE GLBT CENTER

The GLBT Center is one of four campus community centers (along with the Women’s Center, Multicultural Student Affairs, and the African American Cultural Center) housed under the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED).

The GLBT Center serves students of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions, including gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, queer, transgender, genderqueer, gender fluid, gender non-conforming, non-binary, agender, intersex and questioning students and their allies. It strives to increase the NC State campus community’s understanding of diversity by working collaboratively to raise awareness, promote respect, and create a culture of equity, inclusion and social justice.

GLBT History Month 2017

GLBT History Month 2017

GLBT History Month is an annual series of events held each October that is designed to engage students, faculty and staff in learning about the intersections of GLBT history and activism. Be it a lecture, workshop, a film viewing and discussion or an hands-on event, the GLBT Center seeks to create a space for students, faculty and staff to learn about identity, history, community challenges, politics and strategies for creating change. The theme for GLBT History Month 2017 is Resistance Through Existence.

Join the GLBT Center as we screen the film, Forbidden: Undocumented and Queer in Rural America, as a part of Latinx Heritage Month. Living at the intersections of gender, sexuality, and nationality, this film follows Moises Serrano, a queer and undocumented activist as he fights for legal protections for undocumented immigrants across the state of North Carolina. Following the film, engage in a discussion that unpacks some of the systemic and institutional barriers present for folks who identify as GLBT and are undocumented in the United States.
