The Silent Witness Project is an exhibit in memory of victims of domestic violence. The Women’s Center hosts this exhibit in the Talley Lobby in order to increase awareness and education about the impacts of domestic violence in our community. Each life-size silhouette carries a plaque with the story of a person who was murdered as a result of domestic violence. NCSU’s Silent Witness Project is modeled after the Silent Witness National Initiative whose goal it is to eliminate domestic violence murders in the United States by the year 2020.
This is an opportunity for students, staff, and faculty to learn more about the Women’s Center and how to volunteer with the Center! Come learn more about opportunities to support the Women’s Center!
We invite students, faculty, and staff to join the NC State Women’s Center as we host a panel discussion on the impact of masculinities. We will be unpacking the ways in which masculinities effect the perpetuation of a patriarchal society, the way that masculinities can delineate from building a culture of respect, and the ways that masculinities can manifest both within oneself and towards others. The panelists joining us for this event come from different academic disciplines throughout the University willing to share their knowledge and lived experiences related to masculinities. We hope you are able to make it out for this engaging and thought- provoking conversation.
