Based on the 2016 Huffington Post article by Yareliz Elena Mendez-Zamora the Womens’s Center invites you for a centering dialogue to kick off the semester. Join us for an evening group discussion focused on supporting persons of color as we strive to move beyond simply surviving to a place of thriving while navigating historically white institutions.
Participants will engage in dialogue about what it means to be marginalized and othered within historically white institutions and work together to build community, connection, and raise scholarship in the face of institutionalized oppression. There will be opportunity to network as faculty, staff, and students as well as name your own experience of being “othered.” Wednesday, January 17th 5pm- 6:30pm in the Women’s Center. This program will require registration.
