Events to Spotlight Racial Discrimination within the Criminal Justice System

The Center for Student leadership, Ethics and Public Service will host the following events examining racial discrimination within the criminal justice system and the impact this has on our communities. Both events will tackle issues associated with mass incarceration in the United States.

  • “1 in 3: Mass Incarceration in the Land of the Free,” a panel discussion on November 28, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Piedmont Ballroom, Talley Student Union, will focus on the epidemic of incarceration in the United States. The panelists will address issues of crime, poverty, race relations, police and community relations and the effects these have on our prison population. After the panel, audience members are welcome to ask questions.
  • Ava DuVernay’s award-winning documentary 13th will screen on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in Talley Student Union, Room 4280 in preparation for the panel discussion.
