MLK Campus Commemoration Speaker Announced: Van Jones

The African American Cultural Center has announced the 2017 NC State Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Campus Commemoration Speaker. Van Jones is a civil rights leader, former Obama White House advisor and CNN political correspondent.

What is Human Rights Day?

Human Rights Day, observed annually on December 10th, commemorates the day on which the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in Paris in 1948. This year, we created a video of Wolfpack members reading the declaration.

New NC State Resource: “Speaking and Writing About Diversity”

The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED) now provides a resource on its website for the campus community about communicating about diversity. Included are both NC State and general diversity terms and definitions, as well as “do’s and don’ts” and “language to avoid.”

NC State is one of 88 universities to receive a 2014 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. INSIGHT is the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education. The HEED award recognizes universities whose diversity and inclusion efforts show a broad understanding of diversity, including gender, race, ethnicity, military service, disabilities, membership in the LGBT community and more.
