Toluwalope Oyelowo, a junior majoring in Biomedical Engineering, recently visited OIED. Toluwalope (known as Tolu to her friends) has been active in the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), since her first year at NC State, moving from general member to chapter executive board member in her second year, then regional executive board member as a junior and will serve as national academic excellence chair in the coming year.

In addition to this stellar accomplishment, Tolu has also served as Afrikan American Student Advisory Council (AASAC) chair, engineering ambassador, and as a mentor with the Peer Mentor Program and the START mentoring program in the College of Engineering. She enjoys singing and dancing and has participated in the African Student Union dance team. She is also a member of the Kappa Omicron Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and enjoys reading when she can. Tolu plans to go on to earn her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering with the goals of becoming a researcher and professor in the field. We wish Tolu continued success in all her endeavors!
