FILING A REPORT

There are several options for submitting a report or complaint of sex discrimination or sexual harassment. Below is a description of how to submit a report, along with information about what you can expect to happen once you report the incident.

REPORTING TO THE UNIVERSITY

Sexual Violence, Relationship
Violence and Stalking

For information about reporting an incident of sexual assault, relationship violence or stalking, see SAFE AT NC STATE, a one-stop resource for information on how to report interpersonal violence. If this is an emergency, please call 911.

Sex Discrimination, Pregnancy Discrimination,
Sexual Harassment

If you wish to submit a report of a possible Title IX violation, including complaints related to pregnancy discrimination, sex discrimination or any unwelcome sexual advances, request for sexual favors or other written, verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature, please use the Complaint Form for Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation or call (919) 513-0574. An investigator will respond to your complaint.

Bias Incidents

The Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT) at NC State, coordinated through the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity, supports the campus community by providing a system through which a person can report incidents of bias on and around campus.

REPORTING TO LAW ENFORCEMENT

NC State also encourages complainants to pursue criminal action for incidents of harassment that may also be crimes under state criminal law including sexual violence, relationship violence or stalking. NC State Police will formally investigate the incident or assist a complainant, at the complainant’s request, in contacting local law enforcement for incidents that occur outside of the University Police’s jurisdiction. To report an incident to law enforcement, call (919) 515 3000, or 911. You can also fill out a report online using the Clery Report Form.

REPORTING ANONYMOUSLY

Anonymous Reporting

An individual may make an anonymous report of an incident of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual violence or exploitation, relationship violence or stalking. A report may be made without disclosing one’s own name, identifying the respondent or requesting any action. NC State’s ability to respond or take further action may be impacted by the level of information available about the incident or individuals involved.

Anonymous reports to LAW ENFORCEMENT can be made through the Clery Report Form.

Anonymous reports to the TITLE IX COORDINATOR can be made through the Complaint Form for Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation or by calling (919) 513-0574.
