Event

NC State hosted the 15th annual National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) - Carolina Coalition Train-the-Trainer Event this month. Thirty faculty, staff and students from The Citadel, Wofford University, University of Alaska at Anchorage and NC State University participated. Nine new members will join the team of thirty faculty, staff and students who present the NCBI prejudice reduction workshops on campus.

Otis McGresham of the Women's Center Becomes Honorary Initiate of the Order of Omega for Leadership

Congratulations to Otis McGresham of the NC State Women’s Center, who became an honorary initiate of the Lambda Upsilon Chapter of the Order of Omega on October 22, 2015. The Order of Omega recognizes people who have attained a high standard of leadership in interfraternity activities, to encourage them to continue along this line and to inspire others to strive for similar attainments. The Order of Omega unites outstanding people to impact organizations and create an atmosphere where ideas and issues can be discussed openly across Greek lines and to help find solutions.

Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority to Bring Financial Expert to Speak About Managing Student Loan Debt

Do you have a mountain of student loans? Worried about paying them off upon graduation? Join Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Incorporated on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 for "The Horrors of Student Loans!" Financial expert Elizabeth Wilson will give suggestions and personalized financial advice to help you conquer your loans. Al Nisa Documentary Screening to be Followed by Discussion with Director Red Summer

Join the GLBT Center as we culminate our celebration of GLBT History Month with a free screening of the documentary Al Nisa: Black Muslim Women in Atlanta’s Gay Mecca on Thursday, October 29, 2015 in Talley 4280 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The film will be followed by a discussion with the film’s director, Red Summer. A new workshop titled, "Intersectionality in the GLBT Community" will also take place on Thursday, October 29, 2015 in Talley 3285 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The workshop explores the varied experiences of being GLBT. Synthia SAINT JAMES Exhibit Open Through December 4

In September, painter Synthia SAINT JAMES came to NC State for her art opening in the African American Cultural Center's Art Gallery in Witherspoon Student Center. Until December 4, 2015, SAINT JAMES' art exhibit will be on display and available for purchase. During her opening, it was noted that SAINT JAMES created the first Kwanzaa U.S. postal stamp and her paintings have been published in over 70 books. SAINT JAMES has over twenty pieces in her gallery collection here at NC State. Do not miss this special exhibit!
