Brooke Bailey’s nomination included the following: “Brooke has consistently demonstrated not only what it means to truly embrace diversity but also how important it is to encourage students to do the same. She strives to increase the visibility of underrepresented groups on campus and provides a number of opportunities for residents to get involved in activities that will enhance their personal and professional growth.” Highlighted was Ms. Bailey’s emphasis on diversity in her role of supervising 14 resident advisors. Her nominator added, “Brooke’s commitment to diversity extends far beyond her immediate position as a residence director though. She has been instrumental in fostering a campus climate that is safe and inclusive of all students,” citing her internship with the GLBT Center, during which she taught a course (ECD 296), supported diversity events on campus, and personally helped many students, showing “how deeply committed she is to making every student feel that they are a valued member of the university.”
